Overview & Highlights

Located in the heart of Redondo Beach’s charming Riviera Village, il Posto is a delightful Italian restaurant that brings the vibrant flavors of authentic Italian home cooking right to your table. As soon as you step inside, the inviting open-air dining room sets a warm and comfortable atmosphere—perfect for everything from casual lunches to special family dinners.

The menu offers a carefully curated selection of classic Italian dishes, each crafted with passion and an emphasis on fresh, quality ingredients. Start your meal with the Zuppetta di Mare, a luscious blend of mussels and clams bathed in a spicy tomato garlic sauce, or the comforting Pasta e Fagioli alla Fiorentina, a silky puree of cannellini beans with perfectly cooked pasta that envelops you with every spoonful.

For main courses, the seafood options stand out—especially the Branzino and the Salmon, each expertly prepared to highlight the natural, delicate flavors of the fish. The “catch of the day” always promises a fresh, market-driven experience. Those craving something heartier will find joy in dishes such as the tender Ossobuco, praised by patrons for its rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture down to the bone marrow, or the linguini with seafood wrapped in foil, which delivers an explosive burst of oceanic flavors.

Handmade pastas are a highlight here, with several guests raving about the al dente texture and the creamy, cheesy brilliance of the Alfredo sauce. The shrimp and lobster nestled in homemade beet pasta presents not only a feast for the palate but also a striking visual treat. The care and craftsmanship of the chefs shine through in every bite, especially with the fresh orcchiette and fettuccine dishes that have won over families and food lovers alike.

Dessert is not an afterthought at il Posto — indulge in the rich, velvety Tiramisu or the nutty sweetness of the Torta al Pistacchio, both priced reasonably at $12. Each dessert offers a perfect balance of flavors to round out your meal elegantly.

The dining experience is elevated further by attentive, “old school” style service, where servers genuinely care and provide knowledgeable recommendations. Many diners have appreciated the friendly staff’s willingness to offer wine samples or help navigate the menu, enhancing a relaxed and welcoming vibe. The bar also impresses with expertly crafted cocktails like classic Old Fashioneds and Cadillac Margaritas, providing fantastic pairings for your meal.

Il Posto is more than just a restaurant—it’s a place where the essence of Italy is lovingly recreated with every dish and every interaction. Whether you're a local looking for a new go-to Italian spot or a visitor craving authentic flavors in a cozy setting, this gem in Redondo Beach promises a memorable, heartfelt dining experience that will keep you coming back for more.

Loved it! Authentic Italian, each entree had flavors of Italian home cooking. Calamari with their mustard sauce was amazing. The Ossobuco was delicious, down to the bone marrow. The linguini with the seafood in foil was fire! Our wine was recommended and was superb. The service is old school nice; our server was so kind and helpful with menu options. Will be back soon. My new favorite Italian spot!

Heard about the newly opened IL Posta from our daughter, so we decided to check it out for a weekday lunch. They’ve got a solid lunch menu with special prices, and on Tuesdays you even get a free drink — nice little perk. We tried a couple of pastas and they came out well. The pasta itself had a nice al dente bite, which I really appreciate. The Alfredo sauce was the star — creamy, cheesy, and just right. The vodka sauce leaned a little on the sour side, but still tasty overall. We also shared a flatbread; flavor was fine but I wished the crust had more crispiness to it. Service was responsive and friendly, and parking was easy with plenty of street options nearby. Overall, a good new addition to the Riviera Village dining scene — looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.

Delicious! Love everything about this restaurant. The service and food are outstanding. The homemade beet pasta with shrimp and lobster is my favorite. The chicken milanase is also incredible. The cocktails are excellent, especially the Old Fashions and Espesso Martinis. Don't forget to order the pistachio dessert it's amazing. This is a taste of Italy in the Riviera.

This place is extremely good. We came in the day after Thanksgiving with our family - including young kiddos - and were truly blown away by the quality of the food and the wine. Our server from Italy hand made the pastas and showed us videos of him making it. Astounding! We got everything from lasagna to pizza to fettuccine to their hand made orrichiette and they all hit. We haven’t had such good Italian since moving here from NYC! Will definitely be back.

This brand new Italian restaurant on Catalina in the center of Riviera Village has great authentic food and a beautiful open air dining room that is very inviting and comfortable. The appetizers were amazing.. the freshness of the ingredients shined. They do have lighter choices and the al dente pasta with mushrooms was cooked nicely. They also have steak and seafood on the menu and it looks outstanding coming out to the tables. The service was really warm and attentive. The food here is also a good value in comparison to some of the other choices.. it feels like the prices are very reasonable for the quality. This is a welcome addition to the village dining landscape as there were not that many Italian choices beyond the pizza spots.

It was my first time at it posto and my daughter and I fully enjoyed it! We had the fresh pasta dish “Oricchieile Bariolioteo” and loved it! Our waitress was very accommodating and let us try a couple samples of wine before we ultimately decided on a cocktail instead. Her Cadillac margaritas were killer!! We were so impressed with the pasta maker (Bartolotteo) and the sauce maker, see photo! Great atmosphere too, we enjoyed sitting outdoors with our dog.

The food was outstanding. The spinach ricotta ravioli was a special. I hope it becomes a permanent part of the menu. The veal was tender. The diners next to us said the lasagna was tasty but a little dry. They ordered extra sauce, and said that helped. The bar area is small, but the bar manager, Mckenzie, is friendly and was quick to fill orders. I recommend reservations on weekends, since it's small.
